EMS
Fire, Rescue, and EMS
Many of our members are certified Emergency Medical Technicians. When you call 911
for help during a medical crisis or after an accident TVFD and Upper Valley Ambulance
are dispatched together. We can usually reach the emergency scene several minutes
before the ambulance. This allows us to initiate patient contact, begin assesment
and perform critical techniques. When the ambulance arrives patient care is transferred
to their crew and the patient is transported. Frequently some of our members continue
patient care by riding in the ambulance.
We have a well equipped rescue truck and train members to use hydraulic rescue tools,
air bags, cribbing and stabilization equipment, water rescue and low angle rope
rescue. Our six wheel ATV is equipped to transport one patient on a Stokes litter
and we are often called by neighboring towns to assist with wilderness rescue. The
local snowmobile club and the Mascoma Foundation have funded the purchase of special
tracks that replace the tires for snow travel.
